Bud, run a primary wire to your steering column and use the brown wire in the ignition switch harness. This brown wire will provide you with a switched power source. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 air bags installation.

I’m trying to replace the antenna on a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado. It’s hard to trace the antenna cable. It appears that it may go behind the heater core. What needs to be loosened or removed to install/replace the cable. The antenna was broken off at the car wash and I need to replace the antenna and the cable that comes from the fender mount. Can anyone help? Thank you.

Solved the speaker problem in the 06 GMC Sierra. Speakers are garbage. Hooked up a new speaker and it works perfectly fine. Looks like to solve the problem I am going to have to put in 4 new after market speakers. Tweeters dont have to be replaced though cause those were the only thing that continued to work.

I have to fourth the problem that TWRaymond, Fred Randal, and Anthony have. I am assuming the tweeters work because they require little power and the others are not recieving enough power to run. The only thing I can think of is that it is an amplifier problem however I can not find the speaker amp. Anyone know where the amp is located or if I am wrong and something else is causing the problem?

Anthony, double check ALL your fuses using a Automotive Fuse Tester because certain vehicles may have a wire tied into another circuit not labeled as car radio. You may have additional fuse boxes by the driver side of the dash, passenger side of the dash, driver kick panel, passenger kick panel, under the steering column or under the hood. Hope this helps. Good luck with your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado radio troubleshooting.

Please HELP! While I was hooking up the wiring harness for my 2006 Chevrolet Silverado with the Bose system, the yellow power wire and the black ground wire from the wiring harness touched one another causing a spark and the wires to fuse together. I forgot to unhook the battery, I know I’m stupid for that. Well I finally hooked up the wiring harness, correctly as I have done it before, but now I get zero sound from all my speakers. My subs work just fine but not the speakers. I checked the 2 fuses that go to the stereo and one was blown so I replaced it but the speakers still aren’t working. I know I have the wiring harness hooked up correctly, so did I blow my speakers when the wiring harness’ yellow power cord and black ground touched each other?? PLEASE HELP!! PLEASE!

I am having the same problem as TWRaymond & Fred Randle. My 2006 Chevy Silverado Radio with XM sattelite hooked up acts up all the time. Sometimes one speaker works and sometimes they all work. Right now though, all I get is a verry little sound out of the two front speakers, and nothing out of the back. Does anyone know if this is a radio problem?? I would hate to purchase a new radio, like TWRaymond, and it still doesn’t work. Also, does anyone know where the sattelite tuner is located??

I have a 2006 chevrolet silverado LS it has steering wheel controls for stereo. After removing dash bezel and the 3 7mm bolts, I try and remove stereo and the wiring harness holds unit from coming out. I saw a clip of someone doing this on youtube and unit comes right out. the only difference is that other truck did not have steering wheel controls. does anyone know how to remove stereo?

I have a 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500. Recently when I turn my stereo on it seems as though all the stereos are out. Periodically when the ignition switch is turned on the stereo would work but after several weeks it has no sound at all. Tried installing a new stereo but I get the same thing. Anyone else having this problem or know the solution?

Ruben, radio security codes are usually written in your car manual or given to you when you purchase the vehicle. If you do not have the radio security code, you would have to obtain it from the local Chevrolet dealer. Hope this helps. Good luck with unlocking your 2006 Chevrolet Silverado radio.

David, most late model vehicles do not have rca outputs on the factory radio to feed an audio signal to your aftermarket amplifier. You would have to install a line out converter to supply an audio output. Here is the Line-Out Converter you need:

Scosche 2-Channel Speaker to RCA Line Out Converter

When splicing in the RCA Line Out Converter, tap your factory rear speaker wires to get a full range audio source. We suggest you invest in some solid wire taps that wont come loose. These wire tap connectors will allow you to tap into wires without cutting and installs in seconds by hand with no crimping or tools required. If you’ve never installed car audio before, we advise you to take your car to an experienced mobile audio installer. Hope this helps. Good luck.

2006 Silverado original equipment radio question. My xm radio line out audio, that I would like to install, is a 1/8″ 3.5mm to RCA Cable. Does the silverado stock radio have connections to accept the rca cables? or is there an adaptor or ?? Thanks

I am in the process of installing a new stereo into my 2006 silverado 1500. I have all the wires hooked up (there is no on-star r anything) seems pretty basic. speakers, ground and constant and 12v switch. The problem I am having is that it looks like the Constant is working since the stereo will load and eject cd’s but the switched power is not working. I have 2 orange wires on one side of the harness one is thicker than the other. one gets constant 12v (the thicker one) and one seems to not get much of anything whether the ignition is on or not. I have check all the fuses since that seemed the likely problem but cant seem to find any blown ones. I did have a blown radio fuse under the hood originally but replace that (that’s what brought back the 12v constant) but now cant seem to get switched power no matter what i do. HELP lol. Also does anyone one what fuse is relative to the 12v switched power on that harness?

G, technically you could connect your amplifier turn on wire to the radio switched 12v+ wire. That way your amplifier is on whenever the car is on and off whenever your car is off. Just make sure to run an in-line fuse holder with a 1-amp fuse on the amplifier turn on wire. Hope this helps. Good Luck.
